Eligibility and Prize Information

ELIGIBILITY: The Kid of the Year Award is open only to legal residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia. Nominators may be any age, but all Nominees must be between eight and sixteen years or age as of August 1, 2020.

Semi-Finalist Award: The twenty Semi-Finalists will each be awarded a one hundred dollar gift card redeemable for goods and/or services from a merchant or service provider selected by Sponsor (in its sole discretion). The Approximate Retail Value of the Semi-Finalist Award: One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).

Finalist Award: The five Finalists will each be awarded: a $5,000 check, payable to the Finalist; the designation of "kid reporter" for one year with the ability to make editorial contributions to TIME for Kids magazine, TIME Edge magazine, TIME magazine, and/or their respective online, digital and social media platforms throughout such year; a TIME for Kids reporter T-shirt, press credentials, reporter's notebook, and letter of congratulations; and, a trip for each Finalist and their parent or legal guardian to the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards and Slime Fest. The ARV of each Finalist Award: Eight Thousand Forty Dollars ($8,040.00).

As a kid reporter, each Finalist may be given assignments and asked to represent TIME magazine, TIME for Kids, and TIME Edge in national and/or local media (including social media channels). They will report for TIME for Kids, TIME for Kids online, and their respective social media channels from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. Though TIME for Kids will try to give at least one assignment to each Kid Reporter, there is no guarantee that a Kid Reporter will be given any assignments, or that the resulting articles will be published. Article assignments will be distributed at the discretion of Sponsor and TIME for Kids magazine editors. Articles will be edited and may be published in TIME for Kids magazine, TIME Edge magazine and/or TIME magazine, and/or their respective online, digital and social media platforms. Each reporter will be given a byline if his/her story is published. Each Finalist will be required to enter into an agreement with Time, USA, LLC that will govern his/her/their activities as a Kid Reporter and will include additional terms and conditions.

Honoree Award: The Honoree will be announced as TIME's Kid of the Year and will receive a framed TIME magazine cover of their choice. The ARV of the Honoree Award: One Hundred Twenty-Five Dollars ($125).

Total ARV of all awards to be given: Forty-Two Thousand Three Hundred Twenty-Five Dollars ($42,325).
